Roof covering: on the upper section of the building, we are in presence of a built-up roof or more commonly called tar and gravel roof. It is a multi-ply roofing system, consisting of two, three, four or even five plies of roofing felt with a mopping of asphalt between layers. A flood coat of asphalt is then applied over the top and covered with gravel to reflect ultra-violet light and protect the roof from mechanical damage. The roof has an appropriate slope to allow water to reach the drain. The gravel is evenly spread and is completely covering the asphalt and felt and all caulking joints are still flexible.

Can not provide photos as it is covered by a wood deck. The roof itself is covered with an elastomer membrane. We could not confirm the age of the covering.
